Special protection: Ripstop nylon

The fabric has a slight grid pattern because it contains specially strong warp and weft yarns every 5-8 millimetres.

This material started to be used during World War II, specifically for the production of parachutes. The parachutes used for ejection also contain high-stretch, elastic yarn. The advantage of this is that during high-speed descent, the parachute spreads out better under air pressure, thus braking the fall, but when the speed decreases, it regains its original shape and continues to function as a parachute.

Beyond the military era, the fabric is frequently used due to its tear-resistant property, for example, hot air balloons, hang gliders, sails, and flags are made using it. In everyday life, we can encounter this type of fabric as the base material for backpacks, sleeping bags, sportswear, and special protective clothing. For quick repairs of certain items, ripstop material is used which has an adhesive coating on one side.
The material also has other excellent properties, such as a water-repellent coating, light weight, and high UV resistance.

Ultraviolet radiation often damages materials; nylon fabric can crack or disintegrate under the influence of UV light. Thanks to the special surface of the ripstop material, we do not need to fear such impact when using the material. As a US military supplier, Alpha Industries already utilised the advantages of ripstop fabric in the case of garments supplied to the army, so when producing certain jacket and trouser models available in commercial distribution, it was obvious that they would use this type of material.

For example, the Arlington jacket is also made from such material. Due to the excellent properties of the tear-resistant material, the models can be used in several areas of everyday life. The jackets and trousers both do good service during hard work, hiking, or other sport activities.
